Every provider in the NDIS is required to follow the NDIS Code of Conduct. At Better Quality Care, we don't treat that as a minimum bar; we treat it as the foundation of everything we do. Here's exactly what that means in practice.

The NDIS Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour required of all NDIS providers and workers; registered or unregistered.

It exists to protect participants' rights, safety, and dignity. Better Quality Care is fully committed to upholding every one of its seven obligations, and we make sure every worker who joins our team understands and agrees to them before they ever support a participant.

Code of Conduct

8. Act in good faith

  • not charge or represent higher prices for the supply of goods for NDIS participants without a reasonable justification.

7. Raise and act on concerns

  • take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct

6. Prevent and respond to harm

  • take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to all forms of violence against, exploitation, neglect, and abuse of people with disability

5. Raise and act on concerns

  • promptly take steps to raise and act on concerns about matters that might have an impact on the quality and safety of supports provided to people with disability

4. Act with Integrity

  • act with integrity, honesty, and transparency

3. Provide Safe Supports

  • provide supports and services in a safe and competent manner with care and skill

2. Respect Privacy

  • respect the privacy of people with disability

1. Act with Respect

  • act with respect for individual rights to freedom of expression, self-determination, and decision-making in accordance with relevant laws and conventions

We follow these 8 critical points

Beyond the Code of Conduct, every support worker at Better Quality Care goes through a rigorous screening and verification process before they ever work with a participant. This is non-negotiable; no exceptions, no shortcuts.

Our Workers Screening Process

1. NDIS Worker Screening Check

Every worker obtains a current NDIS Worker Screening Check through their state or territory screening unit. This is a nationally recognised check that assesses whether a person poses an unacceptable risk to people with disability. It goes significantly deeper than a standard police check; covering criminal history, apprehended violence orders, disciplinary findings, and more. We verify every clearance before a worker starts and monitor renewal dates.

2. Working with Children Check

Any worker supporting participants under the age of 18 holds a current Working With Children Check for their state. This is verified and kept on file before the worker is rostered with any young participant.

3. NDIS Worker Orientation Module

All workers are advised to complete the NDIS Commission's Worker Orientation Module; Quality, Safety and You, before starting. This module covers the rights of people with disability, the NDIS Code of Conduct, safeguarding and how to raise concerns. It takes approximately 90 minutes and must be completed in full.

4. First Aid & CPR certification

While not mandatory, we highly advise all workers hold a current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate and HLTAID009 CPR certificate, completed with a face-to-face practical component. CPR is renewed annually, full first aid every three years.

5. Personal interview & reference checks

Every worker is personally interviewed by Better Quality Care before being offered a position, real people, not using AI. We conduct professional reference checks and assess not just qualifications and experience, but values and character, because those matter just as much in this work.

We keep records of all worker clearances, certifications, and training on file. If you are a participant, family member, support coordinator, or plan manager and would like confirmation of a specific worker's screening status, you are welcome to request this at any time.
